My new Monitors – Videoseven V7 L22WD

The boxesI ordered two Mirai DML-522W100 in September, the delivery got postponed again and again… and again! So I finally canceled the order and ordered two Videoseven V7 L22WD from Komplett.se (they had 100 in stock) and they delivered it the next day.

All 22″ widescreen monitors has the same panel so far, the resolution is 1680×1050 and the panel looks good in my opinion. The foot on it is pretty bad but the picture quality is good and the bleeding while watching a movie is nothing that I think much about.

ConnectorsThe good about the monitor is that it looks pretty nice, the back got a nice cover to hide the connectors and cables, the price is very low and it got both a DVI and a VGA connector. It also got built in speakers but since those usually are crappy I’ve not even bothered to test the.

Back Front

The bad is that didn’t come with any DVI cable and it got some light bleeding at top when watching dark movies, that’s nothing you will think much about during normal usage.

No dead pixels in any of them, the picture quality using DVI is OK, it runs perfectly in games such as WoW and My graphics card had no problem with the new monitors.

Building my new PC

I’ve finally started to buy parts for my new PC, the one I got now is not too bad, and it is an AMD 1700+, 2×512Mb ram, Radeon 9600XT 256Mb graphics card and two very old 17″ CRT Sony monitors.

The new PC will be something neat, fresh and will be the very first PC I build for myself from scratch, previously I’ve built workstations at work and upgraded and built own computers from old parts for Linux/FreeBSD servers and such. This time I’ve decided to pick all parts myself and build a PC that will last a few years.

Unfortunally here in Sweden the graphics card I want has not yet been released and the importer keep changing the dates for release.

So far I’ve bought the memory from Corsair 2×1024Mb, the computer chassi and the power supply.

I’ve placed the order for the motherboard, CPU and graphics card too.

I decided to get the AMD Athlon 64 x2 3800+ due to the better price then the 4000+ or 4200+ version; I just felt that the minimal increase in performance didn’t justify the higher price.

As motherboard I decided for the Asus ATX Nforce4 (A8N-SLI SE), it support up to 4GB ram, is SLI ready for the graphics card I plan to buy and seems to be a pretty nice card.

The graphics card I finally decided to buy was the Asus GeForce 7900GT 256MB. I decided not to buy the more expensive GTX version of the card mainly because it cost twice as much as the GT version and because I can later buy a second card and run it in SLI mode. It is the new Nvidia cards release here in Sweden they keep pushing back; from the beginning it was middle of April.. then end of April and now it is middle of May.. It is a bit frustrating that I can not get a real date when it will be delivered but I guess that is something I got to accept or order it from another country such as Germany or Holland where it already been released.

The reason I picked the case (that weight 14Kg!) is that it is in metal, no plastic on it except for the little window on one side. It got one big fan in front sucking in air and blowing it across the motherboard where the CPU and ram is, and another fan in the back sucking air out blowing it out, this should give great cooling in the case. It also got an 8″ fan slot where I can mount an additional fan blowing air over the gfx card area.

Anyways.. that’s how far I gotten in building the PC, I’m also looking at buying some new monitors, I need two so I’ve been looking for some cheap 19″ LCD with DVI connectors, too bad those 30″ LCDs are a bit too expensive ;-)
